Welcome everybody to my quaint little design blog. My name is Kevin Alexander, and I’ve been a news designer for the A&M student paper for going on seven semesters. I’ve won three national design awards for some of my pages and I’d like to consider myself an adept in a field of design that is increasingly going by the wayside in America. Though it’s probably not the wisest career decision at this point given the economy, I’d like to be doing it professionally by this time next year.
Here I’ll be discussing to the best of my ability the current trends in news design (as I consider it the highest calling that design can serve) and what it means to a student about to enter into an uncertain workforce and an industry that is seemingly hemmoraging daily.
Prime directive out of the way, I also enjoy writing, editing and photography and before I push off the mortal coil, I’d like to call myself an accomplished polymath. Now all I have to do is discover the origin of some long gone civilization and I can be just like Thomas Jefferson, a man who happens to be my most favorite person ever. The Louisiana Purchase put him just past James Randi.
